Stand Up To Cancer

Sunday, 23 October 2016
So today 17 years ago I was diagnosed with acute Leukaemia, I was 2 and half years old. 4 weeks later I went into remission then spent 3 years going through chemotherapy till I had the final all clear that the cancer cells had finally gone.

I lost my hair and pretty much spent majority of my childhood in hospital. Many people say to me 'I bet you can't remember it now', but sadly I do remember a lot of it. I still have to visit St George's hospital once a year for a check up and will have to continue this for the rest of my life. I trialled a new type of treatment so the doctors had no idea what my side affects will be. Luckily I haven't had major side affects except from bad joint pain in my legs.

I had to have a port-o-cath put inside of me which has left a scar on my right breast and at the bottom of my neck which are still visible today. Sadly this experience has made me develop a phobia of needles so even just a simple blood test is a challenge for me and has seen many doctors get kicked in the face! As I previously stated I lost my hair due to chemo this has also scarred me mentally as many years I wouldn't get my hair cut and most of my childhood my hair was past my bottom- basically looked like Rapunzel. Also this has meant that for that period of time majority of my childhood photos are of me with no hair or with very short hair.

However, this experience allowed me to meet many wonderful people including 2 cancer survivors (Lewis and Caitlin) that I still keep in touch with today and also endured/shared the experience with me. It gave me the opportunity to visit Lapland and to see the northern lights. It made me have an amazingly strong and close relationship with my mum, who I must say is my inspiration in life!

This experience has given me a complete new outlook on life and has made me a fighter! Sadly some people aren't as lucky to win the battle against cancer which makes it the worst disease in this lifetime. As it was stand up to cancer on Friday I thought it would be appropriate to ask you to donate to cancer research as it truly is a great charity and one day they will win this war against cancer.

I hope this post allowed you to have a little insight on what it is like to be a cancer survivor and hopefully give you the inspiration to really take life by its reins!

First Blog EVER!!!!

Monday, 17 October 2016
Hey Guys,
I am a tad nervous but this is my first ever blog so you will have to bare with me! Hopefully this week I will be giving my first (public) restaurant review on Steam and Rye so please comment on this if you would like more reviews in future! I will also give you a daily update on my college life, dancing, hauls and work! So as it is my first post I thought I would start with 10 facts about me!

So lets kick this off with fact one: I absolutely love spaghetti bolognese, I could eat this all day and every day! Don't get me wrong I love food in general, which you will see in my reviews over the weeks, but I am crazy about pasta!

Fact 2: I LOVE beauty and the beast!!!!! When I was a little girl Belle was my hero, she was beautiful, loved books and her best friends were a candlestick and a clock!! If I could I would love to be a Look-a-like Disney princess at Disney world (and obviously be Belle). My next favourite Disney film is Monsters Inc which is complete contrast.

Fact 3: I am 5foot 2inches.......  yes the doctors told me I was going to stop growing after I turned 16 so I have literally not grown for 5 years. Lets move on that's a sore subject.

Fact 4: Last year I took the plunge too donate 16inches of my hair to the lovely charity Little princess trust. It is an amazing charity that takes donated hair and turns them into wigs for children with cancer or for children with no hair, I had a fear of getting my hair cut as I lost it during treatment, which meant my hair was always extremely long! Then I wanted to give back so cut majority of it off! Please if you are having a big hair cut in the future maybe think about donating it to this amazing charity.

Fact 5: I have been dancing since i was 3 years old! I have gained a-levels in dance and now in my second year of getting my BA (HONS) degree in performing art. I have studied in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, contemporary, commercial, musical theatre, ballroom and disco. My favourite subject has to be commercial, being able to really attack the movement and using facial expressions just appeals to me.

Fact 6: My Favourite musical is Wicked.... I know I know it is everyone's fav but it is purely amazing! The songs, the story line, the dancing just blows me away every time! If I could sing defying gravity... which I can't.... I think my life would be complete!

Fact 7: So I have spoken about food now it's time to talk about cocktails. My favourite cocktail has to be sex on the beach, it's cheap, it's full of alcohol, whats not to love! But I admit after coming back from Zante for a girls holiday I don't think I can have one for a while!

Fact 8: He will probably kill me but I thought Id like to add that I have been in a relationship for 3 years since leaving secondary school! We've been through a lot together but defiantly wouldn't be without him!

Fact 9: My Favourite time of year is Christmas. Who doesn't love Christmas?!?!?! I am defiantly more like the character elf than the Grinch. We have to go full out at Christmas and this year I am looking forward to seeing the English national ballet The Nutcracker!

Fact 10: Last one I promise My favourite perfume is Chanel Mademoiselle. Yes it's not your every day perfume as it is super expensive but it is amazing for those special occasions would recommend it highly!

That's all for today guys thank you for sticking with me hope you've enjoyed this post and will be reading more in the future!
